Tiny Amigurumi Snowy Owl

Description

I got this urge about a week ago to make an owl amigurumi. I looked up a whole bunch of patterns and didn't feel particularly inspired by any of the free owl patterns I found online, so I made up my own. I went with a snowy owl because 1) I have boatloads of white yarn that I keep saving for no clear reason, 2) snowy owls are recognizable (thank you Gizmo, Ook, and Sprout), and 3) easy to render in yarn due to their sometimes uniform color.

My youngest sister was kind enough to hold it for me in the picture here so that you could all get a sense of its scale. It fits comfortably in the palm of your hand or would if you could manage to keep it from rolling around.

This little owl is between 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches tall and has little wings made from crocheted half circles. You can't see the feet I embroidered on the bottom in black yarn, but they're there, I swear! The white yarn is TLC Cotton Plus #3001 White (medium worsted weight). The body was crocheted with a Size E hook and the wings were made with a Size C hook. It's stuffed with synthetic fiberfill. The black beak and eyes were done with this thin, stretchy, corkscrewy black yarn that I picked up a couple years ago for 99 cents in a thrift store, so I couldn't tell you what weight or brand or type of fiber it is. It was embroidered into the body using a regular sewing needle.

If you have name suggestions, by all means, tell me in the comments.
